LIFE AT | DIE ERZÄHLUNGEN VON GMAGAZINE #04
Here we are, once again in Milan. After numerous trips around the world accompanied by the searching, curious gaze that GMagazine has instilled in us, we’re back and ready to set off and explore more of Milan, that fascinating city of hubbub and points of convergence, of intellectual, artistic, entrepreneurial and design adventures. The Milan of many faces, each with a story to tell. A city brimming with secret and surprising places, with iconic destinations that have the knack of transforming themselves to accommodate new needs and the new styles, inventions and ideas that the continual stream of visitors bring. Milan, capital of a whorl of small regional capitals nurturing different areas of expertise that include design, of course, but also agribusiness, tertiary industry, science and cutting-edge research—areas that are in constant evolution and in these new times are adapting to the call to be sustainable, to be organic. In among these little capitals is our own incredible local territory of Meda and Brianza, the recipient of our passion, attention and care for over a century, because we believe that this rapport is fundamental for our growth and our future. These two special communities continue to bring vision and skill to a manufacturing approach that reinvigorates tradition without succumbing to nostalgia. Evolution, not revolution. This is the philosophy that guides Giorgetti every day and GMagazine is a crucial part of this process. Expanding knowledge and stimulating spheres of interest, it goes beyond the page and takes us into windows and shared spaces of places that concern us, it opens up to worlds that question us. It also reminds us that, as we engage in the processes of modernisation, capital cities have the power to attract and drive change, as long as there are human beings able and willing to create, recreate and challenge knowledge and approaches. People with the variety and ability to interweave complex interactions—with each other, with the physical world, with the worlds of ideas. Ethics tell us this, as do neuroscience and art. And it is that capacity to keep one’s distance that we recognised in the works of Andrea Cascella that accompany us throughout this edition.
